Are you a student with a great idea for a nonprofit or social enterprise!? SparkSeed is searching for the top student social entrepreneurs across the country to help support their projects with the tools and resources they need to advance their projects. SparkSeed will select 10 ventures to receive six months of support, with three of those ventures to receive ongoing support. Among the perks:
- Mentoring from entrepreneurs and executives
- Pro-bono consulting from business and nonprofit professionals
- $1,000 in seed money towards start-up costs
- Webinars that teach skills such as creating a business plan, managing a team, pitching to investors, leveraging social media, and measuring financial and social impact.
- $10,000 in web tools, including web site design, web hosting, & SEO consulting.
- A four-day summit in Silicon Valley that includes networking, skill-building, and strategic planning.
The application process is pretty cool in itself! Stage 1 will consist of an “Elevator Pitch” video to be posted on the SparkSeed website and voted on by the public. Semifinalists will continue to the Stage 2 business plan competition, and Stage 3 will pitch their projects to a panel of judges!
Check out the SparkSeed website to apply, and start working on those video pitches due February 7th 2010!
