A must read for anybody doing development. As somebody who employs a business approach to international development, Easterly is the voice of results-driven and sustainable development policy.

Another great book is Paul Polak's "Out of Poverty" -- he points out the unsustainable nature of foreign assistance as it is today, how we are just dumping money at perceived problems without thinking of how we can empower people to assume control of their own economic situation without the continued reliance on foreign aid. He describes some neat examples that he has personally worked on through his organization "International Development Enterprises".

But, of course, with both of these books' stances -- If we were to employ these strategies to foreign assistance reform efforts, we must make sure not to throw the baby out with the bath water!
